LARDINI - FALL/WINTER 2017 LOOKBOOK
Armed with little else but a passion for style and elegance, Luigi Lardini started out in the Seventies at the tender age of eighteen by creating a menswear collection. Intuitively sensing the potential behind his choices, his brother Andrea, then 21, and his sister Lorena, 19, joined forces with him whilst their father provided the financial backing for their start-up process. In 1978, a tailoring workshop was opened which soon aroused the attention of some fashion greats. Within a few years, the list of customers who enlisted Lardini’s services to make garments for them had grown and included some distinguished international names. Business burgeoned and the Lardinis took on different roles, acting in different yet complementary capacities to foster corporate development: Luigi handled the style issues, Andrea, with his university degree in computer engineering, took care of the technological side of matters whilst Lorena took on the responsibility for administration and financial management. A few years later, their younger sister Annarita also joined the family company assuming the position of quality control on all the garments leaving the company plants.
Fired by their business success and prompted by a desire to expand into new directions, in time the Lardini family resolutely took on a new endeavour and sought to forge a collection in their own name.
So it was that in 1993 the first Lardini menswear collection emerged from their workshops.

GET A PEEK OF THE FILSON BALLARD STORE
“The Filson Ballard store aims to make shopping a personable and warm transaction. Together with local craftsmen, we wanted to build a neighborhood store where the history of Filson and Ballard comes together. It’s an intimate, quirky space that reveals the folky, salty side of who we are,” says Filson’s creative director Alex Carleton.
The shop, which opened in 2016 carries many familiar, iconic Filson pieces along with some custom limited-edition knitwear, T-shirts, hoodies, bags and caps that are available in-store only.
The space is an apt, beautiful tribute to Filson’s 119 years of providing rugged gear and apparel to its hard-working and outdoor-loving customers.

SPANISH DANDY'S - MAN1924
I would like you to meet Carlos Castillo & Jorge Navares, the Spanish Dandy's of MAN1924.
Known for their Spanish Sprezzatura, well-dressed but never over-styled. They are the guys behind the Kennedy Jacket an unconstructed blazer with soft shoulders in a relax-fit.
Carlos Castillo
The founder’s grandson, took over his grandfather’s businesses in1989. The company became essential for the elite society in their country. The MAN 1924 garments are manufactured following authentic and unique designs, using meticulous tailoring processes. The result is a high quality design with an unrivalled style, which has won the heart of the industry icons, such as The Sartorialist. Carlos is without any doubt the creative soul of Man 1924.
Jorge Navares
Successor of the Navares family, Jorge has a wide experience in the tailoring and men’s fashion field. He shares his responsibilities between Man 1924 and Denis, another of the reference men’s fashion brands in this country. Jorge Navares is unmistakable for his style, and along with Carlos Castillo provides the essence of Man 1924, a firm that does not know about borders, trends or fashion.

STAY COMFY, MY FRIENDS
As those harsh winter days are coming we have to keep ourselves comfy don't you agree? And cord has that look and feel. We don't want to look like that old grumpy science teacher so bear in mind some tips.
1) Go for Classic Colors:
Corduroy is all about texture. So let that take center stage and choose a color that's classic but not put-you-to-bed boring. Go for hunter green, rich marine blue, or teddy bear brown.
2) Keep It Crispy:
Unlike leather, corduroy does not look better with age. Retire anything with too-worn cuffs, or get messed-up elbows or knees. If it's too far gone (and you should know when that happens), pick up a crisp new blazer or pant with an updated fit.
3) Know Your Wale:
Corduroy comes in varying degrees of thick or thin wale (this refers to the ribs of the fabric). You should go for thin to medium. Thick-wale corduroy slides too quickly into leisure-suit territory.
4) Get the Fit Just Right:
Resist the urge to get too comfy in your cords. This blazer should fit as sharply as any other suit jacket. If it doesn't fit that way off the rack, take it to a tailor

THE ROWING BLAZERS CLUBHOUSE - BOSTON

The coolest pop up store, called the Rowing Blazers Clubhouse opened it's doors @ 220 Newbury Street, Boston,
Launched earlier this year by Team U.S.A. rower and archaeologist Jack Carlson, Rowing Blazers is joining forces with an eclectic group of collaborators for its Boston clubhouse: ’90s-themed skate brand Paterson League; cult vintage shop Wooden Sleepers; and GREATS x F.E. Castleberry sneakers. This is one unique pop up experience you don’t want to miss! Their New York City pop up earlier this season had lines down the block and sold out of the brands iconic rugby shirts.
Owner Jack remarks, “I grew up in Boston, going to Niketown and Rugby Ralph Lauren on Newbury Street. So when we got a lead on this space, it just felt right. It’s like going home. I’m excited to have Paterson joining us too. In some ways, it’s such a different vibe; but at the same time I think German (founder of Paterson) and I are so on the same wavelength. We’re both young, scrappy brands inspired by vintage and by our own personal experiences.”

SANTA IS COMING TO TOWN
The Santa Claus we all know and love — that big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard — didn’t always look that way.
In 1931 the Coca Cola Company began placing Coca-Cola ads in popular magazines. Archie Lee, wanted the campaign to show a wholesome Santa who was both realistic and symbolic. So Coca-Cola commissioned Michigan-born illustrator Haddon Sundblom to develop advertising images using Santa Claus — showing Santa himself, not a man dressed as Santa.
From 1931 to 1964, Coca-Cola advertising showed Santa delivering toys (and playing with them!), pausing to read a letter and enjoy a Coke, visiting with the children who stayed up to greet him, and raiding the refrigerators at a number of homes. The original oil paintings Sundblom created were adapted for Coca-Cola advertising in magazines and on store displays, billboards, posters, calendars and plush dolls. Many of those items today are popular collectibles.

BACK TO THE 90S - SNOW BEACH COLLECTION
With its graphic compositions, oversized logos, and bright color blocking, Ralph Lauren’s Snow Beach Collection hit all the fashion notes of the early 90’s. It wasn’t, however, until 1994 when Wu-Tang’s Raekwon wore the pullover in their “Can It All Be So Simple” video that it gained notoriety in the hip hop world, quickly propelling the sweater from branded product to highly coveted, collector’s item status.
To celebrate Snow Beach’s 25th anniversary, the team at Ralph Lauren has both reissued and reimagined the collection’s pieces, in the signature designs and colors. Consisting of the original ten styles from the 1993 release, the Color capsule includes: the iconic pullover, vests, caps, and bucket hats. New pieces include color-blocked rugby shirts, a poncho, backpack, waist pack, and high-top sneakers.
The collection was sold-out within a day online, it still is possible to create greed.
