THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

Both pictures are taken by Karl Edward Guerre of Guereisms and I guess it was before or after the Ralph Lauren Show during New York Fashion Week. These pictures show how you can be stylish in both ways, as a Dandy like John Wrazej in the 2nd picture and as an Outdoors man ready to climb the Mount Everest.

SUNDAY BOOK MANIA - JAPAN JACKET BY TAILOR TOYO

Yesterday I received my copy of the very rare book called Japan Jacket by Tailor Toyo.

A Japan jacket is a reversible and embroidered tour jacket with either a map of Japan showing the major cities or a motif of a tiger, dragon or hawk and Mount Fuji. A Japan Jacket is known as SUKA JUN, abbreviation of two words. SUKA refers to the city of Yokosuka, just south of Tokyo and the home port of the U.S. Navy 7th Fleet. This is the largest naval base in the Far East. JUN refers to a jumper or a jacket. In short, the Japan Jacket is a tour jacket born in the city of Yokosuka.

The roots of its history could be credited to a serviceman who took his jacket to a tailor shop and had it embroidered with his name and decorated with colourful oriental designs while stationed there in the 1950s. The jackets soon became popular among the servicemen as a souvenir of their Japan tour or shore leave. These jackets were sold at gift shops in all towns or cities where men from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines were stationed. Of course, military PXs and base concessionaires sold them as well. For the servicemen, it was an ideal gift to send home to family and friends. It became a shared clothing item for both the East and the West.

Headed by former Michael Bastian Deputy Creative Director, Antonio Ciongoli, Eidos Napoli is the epitome of Neapolitan tailoring. Although owned by legendary Italian tailoring house, Isaia, Eidos is entirely Ciongoli’s vision. A vision that is unparalleled in the market—one that effortlessly blend the plush, intricately milled fabrics of the Neapolitan world with the slim silhouette of today’s modern man. Featuring soft tailoring and traditional, yet slightly progressive, Italian sportswear, Eidos is a label that simply gets it right and will keep you feeling right, no matter what the occasion.

Tomorrow I will start my new adventure, I'm going into the wild.
I'm leaving Amsterdam for a road trip through Alaska. Not like Chris McCandles did hiking
the Stampede trail to a lonesome bus. I will use my 4x4 with Eddie Veder singing the best soundtrack  ever.

CHAD ON TOUR - ALASKA - THE LAST FRONTIER

It's already two weeks ago that I returned from my trip to Alaska.
It traveled for some days through the "last frontier" State in a luxurious GMC Suv.
I fel in love with the rough nature, beautiful scenery and friendly people. Okay, I know I only
saw a part of it in the most friendly time of the year, with limited snow and no mosquitos.
I loved the nature of Denali National Park, where I saw several bears with their cubs and I was
thrilled to see the actual bus from the movie Into The Wild, for a moment I was Chris McCandles.
As Arnold says; I'll be back.....

The first picture says it all, the guy in the checked suit is confused, so many stripes.
Watching the guys @ Pitti Uomo makes it clear the stripe is making it's comeback.
Whether you are wearing a shirt, a blazer or a pant you can't go wrong in a striped version this summer.

THE PERFECT BUDDY FOR YOUR ALDEN

Anderson's belts are the perfect buddy for your favorite Alden shoes.
Given its Parma, Italy origin, Anderson’s may not be the most obvious name for a belt maker, but for Carlo Valenti it was an honor. When Valenti launched his company in 1966, he named it for an English tailor whose work he admired. The commitment to the then-aspirational name has led to a nearly 50-year history of belt-making expertise and made Anderson’s synonymous with high quality design and manufacturing. Today, the experience and traditions of this 50-employee operation combine with modern techniques to create each Anderson’s belt. Buy your Alden and matching Anderson's @ Supply & Advise Miami

RALPH LAUREN LOOKBOOK SS 2016

LET'S GO OUTSIDE

Think summer and you think beach. Which means you're missing out on the rest of the country: cabins in the woods, swimming holes, and hiking trails with no cell service. Let's celebrate this summer these great places—along with the great American (and American-influenced) designers who have created a new camp-inspired look. It's part mountain man, part modern nomad, and equally at home on the sidewalk as it is on the trail. So tie on a bandanna, book a cabin, and lace up a new pair of hiking boots. They'll look better with some trail dust. (pics and full story via GQ.com)

CANADA GOOSE PROUDLY MADE IN CANADA

Above you see some pics of the Fall/Winter 2015 collection of Canada Goose. I visited their showroom in Antwerp, Belgium already in February. I had to wait to post these pictures until the first goods will hit the floor and with 25 degrees Celsius and more they just did.

Canada Goose was founded in a small warehouse in Toronto, Canada in 1957 by Sam Tick, under the name Metro Sportswear Ltd. After spending years working as a cutter in other factories, it was time for him to start his own business. Metro made woolen vests, raincoats, snowmobile suits, and other functional outerwear before creating down-filled jackets in the early 1970s.
Canada Goose uses coyote fur around the hoods on their jackets because it never freezes, doesn't hold water, and the uneven hair lengths create a windbreak that protects exposed skin, helping to reduce heat loss from the face. This holds as true in urban environments as much as it does in the high Arctic.

NIGEL CABOURN SPRING/SUMMER 2016

Nigel Cabourn can be described in one word: consistent. The British designer has been running his namesake label for nearly 50 years with no sign of slowing down.
As expected, Cabourn presented a British workwear-inspired collection with a certain sense of modernity that can only come from him. Yes, we do get a “heritage” vibe here, but there’s more going on. Extra baggy khaki trousers compliment long dresshirts with pockets. Did we mention overalls? About 30% of this collection is also a collaboration between Cabourn and Lybro, a 1920s Liverpool workwear brand recently revived by him. Even the signs used as props in this lookbook are genuine 1940s Lybro vintage advertisements — consistency at its best.
